charlie + devon | a classic nyc wedding
the day began with a private run through of their beautifully choregoraphed first dance. they danced, surrounded by the bustling workers who were in the process of adorning the ballroom.
with newfound confidence in their dancing abilities, we made our way to the ceremony space. the wedding planners carefully orchestrated each moment of the ceremony.
in a flurry of excitement, the bridesmaids quickly made their way to the west room and
the groomsmen to the library. the groomsmen were busy fastening cuff links, tying bowties, securing cummerbunds while perusing the vast collection of books on the surrounding shelves. simultaneously, the bridesmaids were zipping up their dresses and gracefully slipping into heels.
on the top floor, of the cosmopolitan club, charlie + devon shared a quiet first look and took a few moments to breathe before the rest of the day quickly unfolded in a blur.
after family portraits, the three of us slipped away, exploring all the hidden alcoves and secluded corners of the historic building. we descended into the ballroom where charlie + devon got to see their space, cake and florals devoid of all guests.
with their portraits complete, we had a spare moment to snack and relax before the ceremony. (as a side note, i will always make sure you have time to eat during your wedding day. i will interrupt photos and adjust the timeline for you to snack. no hangry brides + grooms on my watch). we relaxed with the bridesmaids and groomsmen as i distributed advil, snacks and gum, making sure everyone was calm before the ceremony.
i made my way downstairs to document all the guests flooding into the lobby and grand staircase. the three piece orchestra echoed above the excited chatter. as everyone began to find their respective seats amidst the hushed whispers of anticipation, the wedding party gathered in a side hallway, readying themselves for the procession.
the ceremony, filled with poems, laughs, parental words of wisdom and intertwined with cherished familial stories. the room was surrounded by paintings of central park, including the spot that charlie proposed to devon.
after the vows + breaking of the glass, they celebrated down the aisle, and scurried into the elevator, and i with them to capture the quiet moment. we ascended into the west room where they were able to sit in seclusion, toasting with some champagne before joining the lively cocktail hour.
following that, they proceeded to the cocktail hour, where the air was filled with chattering conversations and accompanied with piano and saxophone. after some time meandering through the crowd, everyone began flooding down to the ballroom.
the remainder of the night unfolded with hysterical speeches, an echoing big band and extravagant dancing. amidst it all, there was the cake cutting and an abundance of love radiating.
the room itself exuded an excitement and an overwhelming sense of pure bliss.
