kristina + kevin | roaming the MET

there might not be anything more spectacular than people-watching at a museum. you can see kindergarten field trips learning about art, artists creating art of the art, artists creating art of people looking at art. and if nothing else, you can simply see. you can just see everything. this is all true for any museum but at the MET, it’s different. it never gets old. simply because the MET is the MET. nothing can compare to it. (i know you’re wondering “is this just an ad for the MET?” but i promise i am writing about this photoshoot. it’ll all connect)

the MET is love. it encompasses centuries of love within the walls. art that is all made from love stories, whether that be a love story between the artist and a person, or a landscape, or an artistic medium, or a religion, or even a color.

and when you throw two lovers into that space, magic happens. love looking at love. art viewing art. what could possibly be better.

as kristina, kevin + i strolled through the MET, which was only planned to be an hour and ended up being nearly three hours, we found nooks and crannies of the museum with no other people beside us. we, at often points, felt as though we had the whole museum to ourselves.

on a random thursday in march, we were surrounded by centuries of history. thinking about the history that landed us there. in that moment. our storylines. we were present and tranquil, wandering through the empty corridors of the MET. often surrounded by only the echoes of our own footsteps and the soft whispers of art critiques and opinions.

and surrounded by existential gratitude for these teeny, tiny, little moments in our own little timeline.

to kristina + kevin: you guys not only played hookie from work that day. you spent an afternoon with me, went along with my crazy ideas in public, changed into an evening gown and suit in the MET bathrooms and then again in the empty egyptian wing, gave your full trust in me to be creative, and let me have time to ponder and let the space speak. thank you. eternally + truly.
