cat + ricky | maternity
a few weeks after i met cat + ricky for their elopement in brooklyn, we met up again, this time on long island for cat’s maternity session.
cat knew she wanted to do her session by the beach but was open to any ideas that came along with that. i had wanted to do a clothesline/laundry inspired maternity shoot for quite sometime and knew this was the perfect opportunity. i sent over tons of inspiration images to see what she thought and she absolutely loved them.
we found a location that had a bit of park and a bit of beach, set a date and were blessed with a sunny, warm, beautiful afternoon.
i once again was greeted with the all around perfect cat and her comment, “sorry we are late, we had to stop for gas, pizza, and nipple pasties” with which i responded, “those are all necessities so that is perfectly fine.”
we spent the first half hour under the trees, in the sun hanging the smallest of onesies, dancing to alicia keys, gazing at the bassinet and daydreaming of the little human that was soon to be earth bound.
the second half hour was spent in the ocean. a beautifully quiet moment. cat and ricky were hip deep in the water and they stood there simply putting ocean water on cat’s baby bump. it was done in such a methodical and lovingly way that i couldn’t help but be present with them.
soon enough, the sun had dipped below the horizon. we made our way back to the parking lot covered in sand, seaweed and an optimism in what perfect human would come in the near future.
