victoria + michael | couple
i put out a model call for a vintage car photoshoot i so badly wanted to do. victoria + michael reached out with overwhelming interest and excitement.
victoria explained to me their unexpected love story — they followed each other on instagram since 2015, but met in person while working together in 2019. here in the summer of 2021, they were dating. they came together when they least expected it. victoria stated it best by writing to me “we've both never thought this would ever happen. but here we are. he's my partner and best friend for life and i'm so grateful for him. he's my rock and i'm his. we both have never experienced a bond like this before and it will definitely show in our photos.”
so we got to planning. i coordinated with a car company to supply a white 1956 cadillac convertible. i know — that’s hot.
victoria, michael and i planned a mood board of outfits, hair, makeup, the vibe, the energy. we were ready.
the morning of, the car company canceled on me. it was time to completely switch everything. ok. i said, let’s go to a nearby park and set up a big bedsheet on a tree and i’ll make a wildflower bouquet. i told them to wear neutrals and minimal patterns, but most importantly, whatever feels most comfortable to them.
once i got to the park, there were security guards who didn’t allow me in. i had done a photoshoot there the weekend prior with no problem. but anyways, time to switch everything again. i pivoted towards the surrounding streets. victoria + michael arrived and i told them of the change of plans yet again and they were so ready to do whatever i had in mind.
so we spent the rest of that hot summer night running around the small town, swinging on lampposts, going to the local ice cream shop, sitting on benches and talking about nonsense, dancing, spinning, and laughing till our stomachs hurt.
as someone who really enjoys having a plan, this was the perfect push shove to get out of my precise mental plan and go with the flow. i learn so much from my clients everyday and victoria + michael were so inspiring with their laid-back, worry-free energy.
this photoshoot is one of my absolute favorites and the day was nothing like i imagined it to be but everything i hoped it would.
